Secure WHOIS, also called Private Registration or ID Protect, protects your privacy and shields your identity.

Secure whois for your domain name - if you value your privacy

ID protect (also called "Secure WHOIS") works in the same way as having your phone number "unlisted": it prevents people from gaining access to your address, phone number and other private information.

You can protect your private Whois information by switching your "public" domain registration to a "private" unlisted registration. The ID Protect service is $10.00/yr. (per domain). Learn more about this service by reading the ID Protect FAQ.

A domain name with ID Protect can shield you from:
  • >> Domain related spam
  • >> Identity theft and fraud
  • >> Harassers, stalkers, and data miners
  • >> Name hijackers
  • >> Privacy intrusions
  • and more…

ID Protect works by:

- Shielding your private information
- Dynamic eMail System which stops spammers
- Offering you complete control

How do I make my domain name registration private?

Step 1:

Any domain with our service can be private! There are two options:

- Make a domain name private: Start your domain registration here.

- Make an existing domain private: In order to make a domain that was registered elsewhere private, you must complete a domain transfer first. When the transfer process is complete - you can convert your public domains into private registrations. Add Secure Whois to your domain.

Secure Whois will be enabled on your domain after a short verification process by our billing department. Afterwards, you can check your domains' information by performing a whois search.

Step 2:

Your Secure Whois (ID Protect) will be easy to renew. Just contact us. You will be billed for this service until you cancel in writing through our help desk. For security reasons, cancellations by phone or live chat are not applicable. Domain registration fees are separate.

Note: If you registered your domain at the same time you enabled your hosting package with Website Source, you can order secure whois by completing the secure whois order form.

Why should I enable ID Protect for my domain name?

Did you know that current ICANN regulations require that your Private contact information (Whois Info) be included in a publicly accessible Database? This means that your private information is displayed and made available to anyone who wants to see it, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Now you can protect your private Whois information by switching your "public" domain registration to a "private" unlisted registration through ID Protect.

Dynamic eMail System which stops spammers dead in their tracks
Without Privacy ID, spammers can obtain your email address from harvesting and then use it for spamming purposes and redistribution to marketing firms. Your email address can stay on file with various spammers and marketing firms for years. Due to our dynamic email system, your visible email address is constantly changing, so while it is being harvested and redistributed, it will change and the previous address will no longer work for the spammer. The Domain Privacy Protection Service secures and maintains your real email address on file so you receive important information regarding your domain.
