Q) What is DNS?
A) DNS stands for Domain Name System. It is like a big phone book that allows your computer to look up the IP address of other computers (usually web servers). When you type the address "www.google.com" into your web browser, your computer uses DNS servers to look up the IP address of the google web server. Once it has the IP address, your web browser can contact our server and ask for the web page. Read more about the domain name servers that are available to our customers for free.

Q) Is the e-mail offered for free made up of actual POP3 accounts?
A) No, they are forwarded accounts.

Q) When I go to enter my email addresses on the third level domain information page, only a few blanks lines appear even though you say I can have 50 email addresses. Why?
A) Initially, only 3 lines appear for you to enter your email addresses in. If you use the available lines and click "Modify", then more lines will automatically appear the next time that you load this page.

Q) How do I setup the free email forwarding that is included with my domain registration?
A) Login to the Domain Manager tool, then follow these steps:
  1. Email Forwarding Solutions
    (Free service with each registration)

    Case 1: John Doe wants to forward one or several email addresses using his domain name to his AOL address.

      Action taken:
    1. Go to the domain name you want to set up those email addresses for.
    2. Click "Change" in the email service box (or configure if you already have some records and go to step 4).
    3. Select "email forwarding" and click "save changes".
    4. Row 1 - username: sales - Forward to: johndoe@aol.com
    5. Row 2 - username: john - Forward to: johndoe@aol.com
    6. Row 3 - username: service - Forward to: johndoe@aol.com
    7. Click "save changes".
    8. You are done. No changes required on the email client (Outlook...)

    Case 2: John Doe wants to forward one email address using his domain name to many email addresses.

      Action taken:
    1. Go to the domain name you want to set up those email addresses for.
    2. Click "Change" in the email service box (or configure if you already have some records and go to step 4).
    3. Select "email forwarding" and click "save changes".
    4. Row 1 - username: sales - Forward to: janedoe@aol.com.
    5. Row 2 - username: sales - Forward to: johndoe@aol.com.
    6. Row 3 - username: sales - Forward to: jack@yahoo.com.
    7. Click "save changes".
    8. You are done. No changes required on the email client (Outlook...)

    Case 3: John Doe wants to forward every email address using his domain name, not forwarded already, to one email address (also known as "catch all").

      Action taken:
    1. Go to the domain name you want to set up those email addresses for.
    2. Click "Change" in the email service box (or configure if you already have some records and go to step 4).
    3. Select "email forwarding" and click "save changes".
    4. On the last row you will see the user name "*", just enter a forwarding address (in this case: johndoe@aol.com).
    5. The "*" record will forward everything else to the address provided.
    6. Click "save changes".
    7. You are done. No changes required on the email client (Outlook...).

 Email Forwarding FAQ    

How do I forward many email aliases to one email addresses? or even everything!
Just use the amazing star "*" record! This record is ready for you to be used. This is a "catch all" option, which means it will catch all the emails not already listed and forward them to a single email address

What is the difference between MXE (Mail Easy) records and MX records?
MXE (Mail Easy) is only for use when forwarding-mail to an IP address (i.e. 209.19.56.20)
MX is used when forwarding e-mail to a mail server name i.e. mail.mailserver.com.
NOTE: the dot "." At the end of the mail server name. You MUST include a dot at the end of any mail server name.

A) The following services are provided for free with every domain name registration:

 Name Servers    
Q) Can I use other name servers besides those provided?
A) Yes, you can use any name servers that you like, as long as the are already known to the registry.

Q) When I try to change my name servers, there is an error, why is this?
A) The name of the name servers might not be registered at the registry.

Q) What are the steps needed in order to complete my SSL certificate purchase?
A)

 Billing/Pricing    
Q) What does it mean when I look for a name and it is available but the software says that I can't purchase it because there is a duplicate entry?
A) It means that the name is in someone's account but has not been actually purchased yet.

Q) Is my billing contact information going to be shown in the whois?
A) Yes. We are required to supply this information to the general public.

Q) I registered and purchased a name, then noticed that I misspelled it. Can I delete it and get my money back?
A) Sorry, no, all sales are final.

 Terminology    
Q) What are the terms for the parts of a domain name?
A) The "www" part of the address is an example of a third level domain. The "yourname" part is an example of a second level domain (SLD) and the ".com" is an example of a top level domain (TLD).

Q) What is the meaning of the term "URL REDIRECT"?
A) With URL REDIRECT, when someone types your domain name, for example, www.yourname.com, we transfer them to your website and when they get there, they see the entire URL path to where your website is actually hosted, for example, http://www.geocities.com/yourpage/yourpics.html.

Q) What is the meaning of the term "URL FRAME"?
A) With URL FRAME, when someone types in your domain name, for example, www.yourname.com, and they get to your website they only see your domain name in the browser address bar, for example, www.yourname.com

 Other    
Q) I registered a domain name with you. How do I connect this name to my existing website?
A) From the "Third Level Domain Information" section, fill in the host names and record types to fit your needs When finished, click on the "Modify" button located at the bottom of the page.

Q) Why won't my url forward when I put it into the third level domain information?
A) You must be sure to click on "Modify" when you are done to save the changes, it can currently take up to 2 hours for changes to take effect. We are working on making these changes immediately

Q) When I register my new domain name, how long will it take to go "live" on the internet?
A) 12 to 24 hours. The registry only updates the zone files from their database once every 12 hours.
