Domain transfer process
Overview of the domain transfer process:
* Before submitting a domain transfer order,
make sure "registrar lock" is disabled or turned off at your current registrar. A domain must be in "active" or "ok" status in order for the transfer to be successful.
- 1. Begin your domain transfer here. Next, advise your administrative contact that the domain name is being transferred.
- 2. Low Price Domains will email the registrant and/or the administrative contacts by the next business day to request transfer approval (the email will come from info@transfer-approval.com). Reply promptly to confirmation emails (or ask the Admin Contact to do so).
- 3. When this acceptance is received, the registrar will send a transfer request to the registry.
- 4. The registry will email your current registrar.
- 5. Most likely, your current registrar will send your administrative contact an email asking for your approval of the transfer to eNom (our partner registrar). Again, your most critical job is to reply promptly to confirmation emails (or ask the Admin Contact to do so).
- 6. Your current registrar will send an acceptance or rejection notice to the registry.
- 7. The registry will email the administrative contact a notice of the acceptance or rejection.
8. To manage your domain transfer, login to the domain billing area and click "My Sites" then "Domains".
9. After the transfer is complete, you can login to your domain manager.
Helpful hints to complete a domain transfer
- - Review the Domain Transfer FAQ for more information.
- - ICANN regulations prohibit transferring a domain name that has been registered or previously transferred within the last 60 days.
- - Verify that the domain name's administrative contact email address at your current registrar is correct. This is the address we are required to contact to request approval for the transfer.
- - After we have notified you that the transfer is complete, log in to your account and verify the contact information for your domain. Inaccurate or incomplete contact data may result in the cancellation of your domain name.
- - If the domain name is locked the transfer will fail. Contact your current Registrar in order to unlock your domain name before you initiate a domain transfer order.
